This is shocking... I aint big into drag racing but just read this online and thought id add it here.

Car seems to explode into a ball of flames and then continued to hit a concrete wall at the end of the strip at some serious speed. :(

RIP... Motorsport is a dangerous sport as it is but those drag cars are an accident waiting to happen with all that power/nitrous/race fuel etc right next to you.

I've never heard of him, or been much of a fan of drag racing in general, but it's always sad to hear of tragedies like this.

I once met his Dad, Connie Kalitta when one of his L1011 aeroplanes was modified at Cambridge (Marshall Aerospace)

He was very proud of his son.

I found it rather strange that at the end of a very fast drag strip there is what looks like a solid concrete wall, surely there could be something less severe?
