Ester Based Synthetic Oil

Think I have the dreaded oil burning issue. Already spoke to a couple of people but Toyota can only confirm that at 1litre per 1k miles, its within tolerances. So apart from getting an engine rebuild, I was looking at different oils. Just tried Valvoline Maxlife 10W40 on a couple of run-in's and its not doing much or anything at all. Spoke to Opie Oils and they recommended the below:

....anyone had much experience with this stuff. It ain't cheap! but I'm thinking its worth a shot before abandoning all hopes of a simple fix in favour of saving money for an engine rebuild?

IMO you might as well use Halford's own brand 5W30 or 10W40 to save a few quid until you're able to get the Engine rebuilt/replaced. I don't deny the fully synthetic Oil recommended by Opie is better than a semi, but it's not going to solve the problem you already have in the Piston Ring area. By all means use an expensive Oil AFTER the problem has been sorted.

In my opinion instead of letting your oil burn out, why don't you replace first the broken parts on your engine, its much wiser and much safer that way don't allow this things to happen in a long run, read some article on how to take care your engine in a wise way at Auto Buff
