anyone knows when does the vvt-i start working? so smooth that i didn't feel it.
The toyota system is continuously variable, not like the Honda Vtec with 2 cam settings.

Toyota reference http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/environment/com...lossary_02.html

VVT-i, or continuously Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence, is a technology that achieves high power output, low exhaust emissions, and high fuel efficiency; this technology optimizes the valve timing by using computer control to continuously switch the intake valve opening/closing timing according to driving conditions. Nearly all of Toyota’s gasoline-powered cars use VVT-i.

i was under the same impression about the VVT-i system thinking that is does the same thing as the VTEC. I was wrong. It runs continually and you can hardly tell any difference. If you are keen on felling a small kick during acceleration change your air filter with a KN panel filter or a Typhoon system. You will feel the kick....a small one.

has anyone felt this? or is it just me?

My 1.4 is pretty much a tortoise when it comes to mid range power but I am very happy with the low range and high end power. thoughts?

2 months ago, I added the K&N filter and I feel like the car has been freed on the low range rpm while on the high phase it accelerates easier and the sound is much more attracting. I think that the vvti is most noticed from 3.800rpm and higher! You feel it on the gas pedal B)
