Hid Lights?

Hi

I have a Celica GT VVTLi 06 plate and im looking to change the headlights to HID ones. Im dissapointed that the GT doesnt come with HID considering the price i had to pay!

Anyws just wondering if people have already done this? if so if they have any recomendations. I am deciding between the 6000K and 8000K temp. 8k is blue and 6 k is white but i kinda want an "in the middle." some people say that the 6000K has a blue tint. I have seen the 8000K and they seem a bit toooo blue......

My friend has a mini cooper S and his lights are perfect, but his lights are done by BMW- and i phoned them to ask and they have no idea what temp they burn at. I read on forums that stock lights are never really higher than 5000K but this doesnt make sense because his ones are tinted blue.... (the higher the temp the more blue it is) which suggests his must be between 6K and 8K.

And there are a lot of HID kits- What is the difference in the cheap ones on eBay for £40 and the ones garages up in glasgow supply and fitted for £300. Has anyone had any experience with the cheaper ones and if so how do they compare?

Finally- it says on some sites that the headlight must be projector style to accomodate the HID bulb...anyone know if the celica 06 has these kind of lights?

any help would be much appreciated

Thanks ppl! (soz for the long post!)

TBH I wouldn't even consider the cheap chinese hid's swamping eBay. You do, after all get what you pay for. How would

you feel if you were hammering down a B-road at night & they failed? Wrecked motor or worse for the sake of fifty quid!

I converted my motorcycle to HIDs a while back & after much research, brought a pair of Denso ballasts - OEM on Toyota,

Lexus, BMW, Porsche etc. in other words one of, if not the best you can buy. As for bulbs, I started with some 6000k unknown

brand jobbies that were given to me but later changed to 4300k Phillips which are far superior as far as light output goes +

have a nicer colour IMO.

If you fancy a bit of a read, check out http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ you have to register but these guys really know their stuff.
