Avensis Wheel Size

Hi

I have a 2002 avensis d4d saloon with RS4 alloys 205/55/16 on it at present. With 2 people in the back it rubs on the arches when going over bumps. I dont fancy getting the arches rolled and want to keep the alloys on it as they look really well. Is it something to do with the offset? Is there anything i can do bar changing the wheels? The car is a taxi so i dont fancy putting real low profiles on it. Can anyone please help me?

Thatch

at a guess i'd say you have lowered your car but kept the original shocks?

Most prob to do with the offset i would say - there is plenty of room in an Avensis arch so the tyres etc shouldnt rub with correct offset.

You could do with a higher offset wheel (sits further in)

Strange for it to rub without being lowered too though to be fair!

Where does it actually rub?

front arches,rear arches,one side,top of arch,bumper?

Its not catching on the spring cups is it?

It rubs on the outside of the tyre wall at the widest point against the lip on the wheel arch. Have been told that its dangerous as its waring away at the side of the tyre and weakening it. If the wheel was further in even by 5mm it would clear it. Rear arches both sides
