Hi,

has anyone heard of this problem with this engine?

Hope nobody minds me asking here as it is in my lotus exige, sweet as a nut under but around 4k their begins what is like a top end rattle only under load,

car still seems ok for power.

There is an idler on the aux belt on the side of the engine thats been know to rattle as it get older, but more at low rpm when pulling off. I had a heat shield on the exhaust rattling before, but again this was at low rpm and your cars exhaust will be different.

Have you tried getting a screw driver out and putting it in the rocker cover, ear to the top of the screw driver then to have a listen. See can you hear anything when you rev it. How often do you check the oil?

Does it get worse after 4000 or go away?
