booked car in for a service at toyota in stratford, the car has done 76,000 miles,

my first ? is does that meen its up for a 80,000 miles service like toyota say .

next ? is what is involved in a 80,000 mile service because i was told its a major service which will cost me 215 pound plus vat , but the man at the garage said they will test drive it as well to check for dmf fault finger crossed no problem there , forgot to mension it is a friend of the family who works at toyota in straford ,

It cost me £133 for a 10,000 mile service on my Rav4 series 3 diesel. I would say your quote is quite reasonable, but I imagine there will be a few extras needed with that mileage. Good luck any way.

There are interim services at 10k and full services at 20k intervals so technically yours is nearer to 80 than it is to 70!

The full service involves all the transmission oil being changed so the price is right. Things like cabin filter (which you should be doing yourself) and brake fluid will be charged extra so make sure you agree what they will be doing. At the end of the day you are the boss so if you think it has been well looked after you could opt for the 70k service and defer the 80k till a later date. Don't forget the 10k is only an oil change and inspection and you could save a packet by doing it yourself.

is the diesel due for a replacement cambelt at 60k? If so, make sure that has been done already and if not, you know what you need to do.....

That certainly won't be included in a £215 service.
