Hi Guys,

I am a new memeber looking at getting a new SR180. I have never owned a Toyota and have a demonstrator SR180 this weekend to try before I make my decision. My car at the minute is a WRX Impreza and I love it but a financed compnay car is pretty appealing.

Heres the deal. I can get a Toyota as my company car and I have a limit on how much I can spend. My base car is the 1.4 Auris. However I want to go for the SR180 and these are the 2 options I have ended up with to keep me within my limit;

Option 1

Auris SR180

3 Door

White

Toyota Motorsport Front Skirt

Toyota Motorsport Side Skirts

(The rear diffuser takes me over my limit)

Option 2

Auris SR180

3 Door

White

Toyota Motorsport Front Skirt

Leather Interior

I would appreciate any comments on the options and if you think there may be better alternatives. I have a photo of how option 1 would look but being new i'm not sure how to insert it. Anyway, your comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Tony.

So the choice is leather interior or side skirts.

Leather every time for me, no contest.

yep i reckon the leather would be swaying me too. Although in option 1 you said that the rear diffuser would push you over your limit. I thought that the rear diffuser was standard on the SR180, it's one of the key differences between that and the T180. I may be jumping to conclusions but i assume you meant the rear spoiler??.

Either way whichever option you choose im sure you will be very happy with it, they are fantastic cars to drive with loads of power which surprises most other people on the road. I have had much bigger 'rep mobiles' come up behind me on the motorway and flash me to move over to let them pass. The look on their faces when i move over but then power away leaving them struggling to keep up is funny.

enjoy it

Go for the leather.

The rear diffuser is not a diffuser. Don't be fooled. It's a stick on decal and it comes standard on the SR180.

Cheers Guys.

Sorry its not a diffuser its the trim to the rear bumper which has 2 exhaust silencers. Not sure if it really needs it as I think the spoiler and the cheeky red SR180 Badge set the car off enough at the back.

I have leather in the subaru but I think I prefer the look of the car from the outside with the front and side skirts on. Take a look at the photos attached, the skirts set the motor off a treat especially in white.

That car is for sale on eBay at the minute!!!

That looks exactly like mine however mine also has rear roof spoiler too.

I know i said that leather would sway me but thinking back and looking out at my car as i type i dont think it would, i think my car look awesome with the added bits on it, much better than a standard T180. I would go for option 1 if i were in your position.

Its just a pic from the net. Downloaded it to try and get a feel for what the car would look like. As you can imagine I have done loads of research trying to decide what spec to go for. Is your car also white?

Realised as soon as I replied, it says so on the left hand side. I am new to this after all.

Your motor does look good and I do like the trim on it. At the minute I think it needs to have the trim instead of leather.

Looks like I am going to get the best of both worlds. Decided to sell my wifes Honda Civic and keep the Subaru. So I drive to work in a pretty decent SR180 saving a bag full of cash in petrol as compared to driving the Subaru. But then I get to have to Subaru to drive whenever I want too.

So......

.....unless someone can convince me otherwise. Will stay a member of the forum/club and let you know what I end up with. Cheers for the advice/comments.

My house mate has the WRX and to be honest it is in another league when it comes to cornering and aggressive road driving, but still rides the bumps as well the Auris if not better  . A remarkable piece of engineering... shame it costs so much to run.

I know I've said this before but if you want to finish the car off without investing in the rear skirt go for painted mudflaps like the Japanese and I have. You'll looking at about an additional £60. You could also get the exhaust trim as well for about £50.

It's just that thingy that you put on the end of original exhaust pipe...

This not the one made for Toyota, but you'll get the idea about how it looks->showimageinimgtagkf7.jpg

Any photos of the motor Arch? I have just ordered my car through work. SR180, White, 3 Door, front and side skirts. Know what u mean about the brake dust. Had a demonstrator over the weekend and the wheels were covered in dust. Maybe cause is was redlining the the car most of the time to see what it was capable of. Was impressed with the performnace. My only real issue with it was the seats were very spongy/soft. Not very sporty seats, felt a little uneasy when taking sharp corners at any speed. Apart from that though it was good.

Hi Arch,

Yes, you need to buy the mudflaps in natural black first for around £27 per set then paint, however you'll have trouble fitting them if you have already bought the full bodykit as you say.

HI JUST SPOKE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER SAYS REAR MUDFLAPS CAN BE FITTED NO PROBLEM, BUT YOU CANT FIT THE FRONT IF YOU HAVE A BODYKIT, SO IT LOOKS LIKE REARONES ONLY PAINTED WHITE.

Look forward to seeing them.
