96 Camry Unknown Issue Plz Help!

i bought my 96 camry about 3 weeks ago. after getting off the highway, after driving for about 15min, the tranmissions feels weird shifting as your oin the off ramp. then i notice that the rpm are just a little above normal. but when i go to park the car the rpm stay at 3000 when u have the car in park reverse or neutral. when it is stopped in drive it is fine. the car has only done it three times but it is def concerning b/c it seems to be putting a lot of strain on the transmission. i have been to several mechanics who arent sure what to do. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? thanks for taking the time to read this!!!
