I have noticed a burning smell coming from the engine, there is no smoke or anything though.

Has anyone else had this before?

Is it a new car?

clutch would be what I would first think of also if I smelt burning.

I occasionally got this when tootling along in 2nd gear at about 15mph then flooring it up to 60mph - all without a gear change.

Clutch wasn't on the way out as it was a brand new car (yes, this was after it had been run in). I figured it was the clutch though, but the smell was only slight so didn't worry about it. Owned the car for 2 years with no problems whatsoever.

Oh, it was a gen7 Celica, different car I know but same engine.

I had a pretty bad burning smell a while ago and cacked myslef the sumthing exspensive was gone..turned out to be a couple of bin bags stuck to the hot exhaust lol..it really stunk tho

If it's a new car, it will be parts of the engine heating up for the first time and expanding/burning little bits, i.e. flakes on metal...

New cars always have a burning smell when they're ragged..
