 Me and ma mate were discussing this in the pub and i be honest im a bit baffled.

my import gen 5 has a cd and a tape/radio, is got surroun d sound and a toyota amp,

can i simply remove the jap radio/cd player and replace it with a UK one?.

is the wiring harness going to be the same or is it different in jap.

i got no problems wiring the thing up, ive done many a fitting but always uk models.

im not wanting to start a job i cant finish.

no slagging me please!!!!!

Indeed you can.

It took me by surprise when i moved the stereo out of my UK Celica GT into my Import Celica GT4. The wire's being diffrent! :ffs:

But if you keep pulling and pulling you'll see that the extra wires are not needed and removing these means you can see the main connection which IS the same as a uk car.

So yeah, not a problem

If you cant connect up the Amplifier then leave it disconnected or better still remove (save weight) it because modern head units dont need amplifiers unless you have a Subwoofer.

My last two Sony Head Units were 50w each speaker straight out of the unit, amplify this and its by by Speakers!

the celica has a super surrouind stero system

with 12 Speakers including 2 sub woofers that are in the doors, so im pressuming that the amp is running these.

ill need to post some pictures of my gen 5 on here

I've got 12 Speakers also but they are all running off the head unit fine.

The amplifier will only be for the two subwoofers then. If it dont work i would change it for a new one unless you can see why it isnt working.
