Timing Belt Light

Hey guys, does anybody know how to reset the timing belt light on a 1998 Avensis, I have already changed the belt but haven't got a clue how to reset the lights!

Do you mean setting the ignition timing with a timing light? There isn't a distributor on the Avensis - no adjustment possible - Done by the ECU.

no not the timing itself just reseting the warning light

Did not even know there were a such warning light, but maybe it is it market/model dependant. How does the warning light look like? Is it possible the "strange engine-looking symbol" (malfunction indicator lamp?)

Just checked Autodata book & cannot find any referance to cambelt warning light apart for big 4 x 4, Colorado & landcruiser etc.

it is the funny engine symble light, i think its an engine mangement light, can i reset that myself?

That's different. If light Yellow in colour & looks like small engine, you might assume you have a possible problem with engine or connected components? Best running car into local garage & having car checked over with code reader. Still have never heard of Avensis with cambelt renewal warning light.
