Lost Keys

Hi,

My child has lost my key and the spare has been misplaced as such I am looking at the real possibilty of having to have a new set of keys. Having spoken to my local toyota dealer they are quoting me between £1200 - £1500 to provide replacement keys, door lock and the EMS (I assume this is the electronic management system) as so they tell me the Keys are linked to this.

I cant believe that Toyota dont have the ability to send me a new key(s) and code it to my car. My dealer tells me this is the only way as keys have to be cloned from each other... is this true?

When I lost a key to my volvo, volvo syncd a new key to the car not from my spare.

Has this ever happened to anyone else or am I jsut very unlucky.

"If you have lost your Toyota Keys there is no need to replace the ecu.

We have teamed up with JS Auto Repairs to offer this specialist service to any of you Guys or Girls that have lost your Toyota keys.

As many of you are no doubt aware, if you lose all of your master keys or in fact all of your keys then the dealers will say you need to replace the engine or immobiliser ecu and a new set of keys ordered. This is no longer the case.

JS Auto Repairs can supply you with the perfect solution. What you would need to do is remove the immobiliser or engine ecu (model dependant) and send to them along with the chassis number of the vehicle if it's a British one. They will cut you a new key and programme the key straight back into the immobiliser. When you receive the units back just put them in the car and it will start. This key will become your first master key and from there you can programme more keys should you wish to.

The price for this service is £150 including postage and a new mechanical master key already programmed into your unit ready to go. This offer applies to uk residents. Overseas residents will have to pay extra for the postage but the price of the service is the same.

On some occasions a lock barrel will also be required to decipher the lock cuts, especially if the vehicle is imported or not of British origin.
