Hi,

Im picking up my new car tommorow, its a celice gen7 (i think thats right, its the newer one) and i noticed it comes with a sony cd and tape player, the only issue i have is that all my cd collection is in mp3 format which i gather the sony one wont play,

So i was looking at new ones and seen that you can get double DIN touch sensitive screen ones, would they fit ok and has anyone done them?

hey, I don't know if that will work or not, but I'd be interested to hear how it pans out. this is something I intend to do to mine as well.

Yep, stereo hole is double din, and as your getting the pre-facelift, you don't need to worry about any extra surrounds (you'll see what I mean when the Sony comes out). That stereo actually looks pretty well spec'd as well! Just hope its of good quality...

No MP3 playing as standard in the Celica! The Sony is CD Audio, Tape, Radio only. Your only way round that is to get a Parrot, tape to jack converter, or something similar and use an external MP3 player.

If you want MP3's, you'll have to swap the unit out.

On a related note, how much would I expect to pay from Toyota for the wiring harness for the stock Sony head unit? I swapped mine out for a single DIN unit but now that I'm probably part-exing it for a T-Sport I want to put the original head unit in, but I don't have the harness any more.

Any ideas what part number I'd be after?

I'd love to say no more than £20, but really, they could charge what they want!!

Drop PartsKing a PM (he works at a Toyota main dealer, and has got people spare parts in the past at a pretty reasonable rate!), and see what he has for ya!
