I have been considering getting some new xenon headlight bulbs for my Starlet but have been hearing conflicting reports of their performance.

The bulbs i was looking at are either the low cost Cool Blue Xenon headlight bulbs or pay the extra and get the osram bulbs.

Do either of these bulbs offer any better or whiter light over the halogen?

Dont buy cheap no-name makes, cos they're essentially normal bulbs with a blue tint, so the light output is reduced.. well that was the case when i baught (spell check) them for my golf. get osram, they're a well known make and i would very much trust them. pay a bit more, they'll last longer and give a hell of a lot better performance.

I decided on getting the no-make cool blue headlight bulbs after a friend of mine recommended them to me from this shop. He said he has used the Osram SilverStars and they were no better than the cheaper Autowirez branded bulbs.

I haven't received the blue headlight bulbs yet so can't comment personally but at about a £5 a pair, you can't grumble i suppose. :D

Just thought i would do a quick update on an old thread i started.

The bulbs are still working fine but we will have to see if they last the winter ahead. To be honest, i don't notice any difference in brightness in fog but in normal driving conditions, they do seem brighter. It's strange, it's a different kind of light.

I had my MOT a couple of weeks back and was going to take them out but didn't have time so just left them in. They passed the MOT so at least if i did get stopped by police trying to find something wrong with my vehicle, i know the MOT testing station was happy with them so they must be legal.

JUst thought i would let others know how im getting on. Just need some Iridium bulbs now for my indicators. Anybody know of any cheap UK auto bulb shops online?

I bought a set of cool blue phillips bulbs donks ago when I had a Cavalier and compared to the standard bulbs I could tell the difference, its pure white rather than the yellow you normally get. And the bulbs lasted the longest out of all the bulbs I have bought, so long I transfered them to my MR2!
