The Moment Your Mr2 Dream Came True

For a good 7 years id wanted a MKII MR2. Playing Gran Tourismo 1, 2, 3, MSR, and any other racing game you can think of id always choose my personal dream car....the modest MR2!

Well a few months ago I realised my dream when I bought my mint condition superwhite rev 3 t-top MR2.

I guess my 'moment' came whilst driving through a lovely coastal area one sunny warm day. I had the roof off, the car was so clean you could eat your food off it, and there was me and my girlfriend cruising along. The road stretched on for miles along the coast past trees, cliff top roads, the occasional tourist area and pubs. Id catch many drivers and passers by looking at the car - clearly an eye catcher amongst your fiesta's and Clio's etc.

As I drove along with the breeze in my hair and the low growl of the engine as I dropped a gear through corners, I realised that I was finally living out what I had always imagined.

Im sure all MR2 owners have experienced the pleasure of owning such a refined sportscar. What sticks out in your mind as its defining moment?

mine was when i returned to my parents home where i grew up driving my dads celicas, suddenly bends i'd discussed with my mates (alfa, audi, peugeot, golf drivers) that they said were 60 max bends felt too slow when i went round feeling no where near the limit at 80mph.. then i knew the mr2 was special.. i can say now at 26 (i feel very lucky) that i'll never own a front wheel drive car again, .. :D

As soon as I saw how cheap they were going for in Autotrader. Always loved the shape. After over a year I still go outside and look at it.. cant believe its mine really. Had the best summer this year with my T-Bar!

I can tell you that Jimlad got excited when I took him out in mine.

I was looking at Sports cars in general (I was upgrading from a Range Rover!!). I looked at CRX's at first, then stumbled accross the MK2 MR2's. I test drove some N/A's, from garages, good, but overpriced. I then looked at some imported 2's and inevitably stumbled across the turbo. Took one of these out for a test drive and my fate was sealed. I waited 3 Months for mine to arrive, but it was worth it. Six years later, I'm still in love :) and still similing :).

Mines was when I just bought and an hour later I beat my m8s brand new Type 23 Series2 Lotus Elise. He thought his car was da bomb(I often witnessed him beatin scoobies it is !Removed! fast). I beat him twice lol twas great he had never been beaten muhahah!!. The next day I took the 2 to 154mph.

It was just the feeling that I am now in the car 'premiership' league..that I know own a very serious machine. No longer were those scoobies and m3s untouchable. I am faster. Thats what does it for me :D

Eat my tread...muhaha :arrgg-matey:

Sweet.......I started with a NA version which was great for a 2nd car...then when that was about to die I got a Gen II which was great as a lead up to the Gen III but when I got that It REALLY struck me when I nailed some evo's and wrx's etc....and not just once but heaps!! Now I have very basic mods and almost never need to up the boost to 18...just kick ***** on 14........since the Gen III I have REALLY realised there potential as MOST other cars in the same performance range take much more mods to get to the same level as the Gen III on basics.

Cheers

Got mine in august and got to enjoy moonroof less moments (not a t-bar, but has the huge "moonroof" you can remove. I have wanted one since I went out in a mates a couple years back. Had a succession of rapid fwd fords and the MR2 is so much better, power and reliability. :D

My last car (escort turbo) was faster in a straight line, but was incredably unreliable and the MR2 is def quicker point to point. All hail rwd! :D

I got mine at the begining of March last year. I had been looking and test driving for 3 or 4 months, but the second I got into my White Rev3 I knew this was the one. It was £1000 more than I wanted to spend but it was also £1000 i wouldn't have to spend fixing up shoddy Rev1/2's that I'd previously seen.

My Dreams have been shattered as I had to sell her a couple of months ago. I am now about 6 - 9 months away from owning another MKII Rev3. This time I think I will import a turbo, but not fussed as my Rev3 N/A was all the car I ever wanted or needed

yeah....

I had a megane 1.6I 16v Sports Coupe... nice enough car.

Then one day JappyBeast and I met up. He told me he was bringing up his MR2.

As soon as I saw it, I loved it. He took me out for a spin in it... I was well impressed. From that moment I knew I had to have one.

A few months later I got my Tubby... never looked back. Love the beast.

Just like Jappy, I still look at it and think...mmmmm.

Mine was when a mate bought an N/A mk2. One night we went out for a drink and I ended up staying sober and driving home. Ended up having the car for the whole next day as my mate was still asleep

And that was it. The thing was awesome. For just a N/A 2.0, I thought it was untouchable. Took it out for a quick blast and hit 140mph with ease.

Next thing you know I'm looking for one myself. I found a few things out from the boards and realised that it had to be a rev3 turbo.

I went and found a good one in Autotrader that was surprisingly cheap for a quick sell and was instantly overwealmingly impressed with it. I left a deposit and picked it up the following day. I never did drive any other MR2 before buying it (which was a bit ropey I suppose!) but after having it as my own and kicking Scooby and M3 *****, I know I've done the right thing!
