Any auto electricians out there?

The live Battery terminal on my94 Surf import is knackered and i am looking at re-routing another lead to get round the problem, but need to know if i am going to blow anything. The plan is to disconnect the original connection and run a new lead from the alternator elbow to the + Battery terminal(see pics). Is this safe to do or should I get a new terminal clip installed?Any help appreciated

What you need is one of these clamps......

It's OK to disconnect the live cable will you re-new the terminal, the ECU will not be harmed.

Thanx Vince-any idea where I can get one?

I got mine from my local 'Chav chariot' accessories place, but Halfords will have them too.
