Can anybody help please? I have a Previa GX Auto, year of manufacture 1994. In recent times water has been leaking into the car on the drivers side. Water seems to catch on the floor and gushes out when the drivers door is opened. Also water leaks from half way down the front window support ontoo the top of the dashboard. The sun roof still fits well and there is no sign of perishing of the rubber. Any ideas greatfully accepted.

Make sure the drain holes at the bottom of the door are clear. Roll back the rubbers seal at the base of the door and check. These let water that runs down the window and into the door escape. If they are blocked water will accumulate in the door and find an escape through the lining and into the car.

Thank you very much for your help. I have checked for drain holes under the door but cannot find any! However, there is no sign of water leaking from the door. It seems to me that the water is coming from within the cabin, down the drivers side of the car making the carpet wet. When the door is opened water flows out from the car side, (not the door), by the rubber surround. Also I can't explain where the water is coming from that causes dripping from the driver's side window pillar. Quite a lot of water comes from here in heavy rain. I thought may be the front window seal may be perished.

The only other thing I can think of is your actual windscreen seal has perished or your front sun roof seal. Take a look all around the seals and see if you can see any evidence of moisture on the inside of the respective seals. I had a leak at the rear of my car and it was the actual window seal.

This is just a guess of course, the problem with water is that where you see it is not necessarily where it came in especially if capillary action is at play.

Thanks again. It is kind of you to spend your time answering these problems. I think you may be right and the windscreen seal is allowing water to seep in. I will check is out, the door seals and the sun roof seal. The car is currently away but when I get it back I will do a thorough check of the seals. If it is the windsceen seal any ideas on best and most economical way to treat it?

When my rear window was leaking I just went down to Autoglass and had them re-mastic it. It cost £50 but was well worth it.

Thanks, I will try that once I get my car back and let you know how I get on. Fortunately this week the weather is being kind to us!
