Hi, has anybody felt the need (if so what did you use?) to upgrade the dipped headlamp bulbs on their rav4.3 The fog and main beam seem more than enough but sometimes I find I'd like the dipped to be better. Allignment is fine. Mike

Hi Mike - without going too off-topic, I have done this but on a RAV4.2

I found the lights OK on the RAV4, but where I live, a lot of the Trunk & A-Roads, let alone the B-Roads are unlit, and I was not comfortable enough with the standard lights.

I fitted a pair of "Philips X-treme Power" based on the review at Autoexpress and I think it was money well spent - the improvement is very noticable

Hi Mike. I have to say I am impressed with the lights on the 4.3 - good cutoff, very bright etc. Had a Golf GTi with xenon bulbs before and the performance of the lights on the Rav4.3 is immeasurably better than those overpriced beasties (€123 for a new bulb!!!) I have replaced the ones in my better half's 4.2 with the Philips X-treme Power, but as has been said they are H4s and the 4.3 takes a different bulb size (H11) that Philips don't seem to supply - yet.

Osram make a high powered bulb that's supposed to be available in H11 - the Nightbreaker. Here's a site that lists both. Sorry, but I haven't tried the Osram bulbs.

I bought some from the USA (yes they are "e" marked) but forgot that the dipped ones are H11s to fit the projector headlights. So I ended up with upgraded main beams which weren't bad anyway and dipped the same as before!

The best upgrades I ever used were Ring bulbs in a red package but their site seems to be down at the moment so I can't check if they do H11s.

I have just bought + fitted some of those to my main beams, they are, Ring ultra xenon RW9905...HB3, I gave Ring a call this morning, and they don't do H11 xenon upgrades, which is what you need for your dipped beams, but i found these on the (net) Osram H11 + 90% but they are £31-50 per pair

and if this link works you can get them for £25-20, dont know what make the £16 ones are, or how good they are  TO FIT R4.3
