For around £3-4k you would be struggling to find a Yaris at a dealer, they hold their value very well.

Probably a 1.0 GS would be the best for a cheapie as at least you get power steering and the rest of the spec if perfectly adequate.

Thanks guys for replies.

Sorry forgot to mention insurance Lee :)

Need car for short trips..like groceries, etc. One I can jump in and go....too much hassle with the E Class...and besides a recent accident has cost me dearly. So my needs are a low insurance and low depreciationn since when my NCB is 1 yr I intend to swap vehicle insurance on the MB to the policy on Yaris and re-insure the Yaris. I have no NCB on either vehicle.( just lost NCB on the MB due to accident.)

Was looking for the cheapest Yaris..essentials would be power steering..poss aircon.... GS is good spec....how much could I get way with?

I would rather go for Rav4/CRV but 2nd insurance is £1200 and I'll be paying top insurance on MB next yr due to the claim. So I want to do the sensible thing and buy a cheap to run 2nd runabout. How do guys find the Yaris?

For about £6000 you could get a brand new one with a years free insurance.

If you dont mind having something a bit French but with decent spec you could get a new 1.2 Micra with free insurance from some dealers for £6295.

James £6000 for new one sounds Ok.

Thought that would buy me just the T1 with basic spec for 6995.

Where do i get new micra for that price?

I will keep car for about 12-18 months since once NCB is reasonalbe level i will swap for 2004 RAV4 or Honda CRV with diesel engine Cdti-(one in accord out in Feb 2004).

Should i buy used or new at this stage?

ya will get basics on a t1 although you do still get power steering and all that just dont be expecting alloys, sports interior, aircon, the like

but for a runaround!...is it necessary?

lookin at 3-4k ya gonna struggle, youll be lookin at a first of the line, private sale and a bit tatty i would have though the litttle buggers hold there value VERY well!

Ur right jaxx, no need for alloys etc.

Couldn't do w/o aircon esp in winter though.

i think the free insurance promo is to do with finance deal...rather pay cash or low int bank loan and own car outright and sell when i want.

i think the litte cars hold value very well....in fact better than any BMW/MBnz. Maybe i should swap my car for it...makes sense....Mrs would kill me though....she likes being driven in MB and has even specified color of Yaris she wants and no...can't give MB back.

New Micra is another idea though....may just check it out.
