Greatings from scotland,

Im barry ( sometimes this will be used by my dad willie too)

Ok so we have just bought a newer car, a 1996 toyota carina e, 1.8

My dad loves these cars, and swore by his old carina 2. although it drove me mad with its ..... unique noise, between say 2400 rm and 2700rpm, like a high pitched whistle. but that had the 4 afe engine..

As for me, Having not long got rid of a 323f v6, im hoping this will keep a smile on my face, as i know my dad will hardly drive it,

i alreaddy have a few plans, and i like to have cars noone thinks to own ( certainly the only of my firends with an estate)

So what do i need to look out for, its supposed to be a good runner, and mot'd to jan next year, just need to tax it and ill off,

oh and what pcd are the alloy wheels for this car, as im looking to lower her and possible a set of wheels,

and is it the 7 afe engine in the 1.8

Thanks in advance guys,

Welcome to the club

I had a Carina E a few years back.. K plate... I had it just over 5 years and it never let me down once, I hope yours is as good a car :)

As for the wheels.. I'm sure the PDC is 5x100.. but I'm not 100% on that.

Thanks guys,

Im not so much a kid, 21 and now i can get cheaper insureance,

Plus its nice to suprise my mates,

They all have evo's or imprezza's and are financed out there eys,

im happy with the older cars, cheap to run and fix ( unless its a mazda lol)

Ill need to keep an eye out for some wheels, cause the cars white it will be white or black alloys anyway, either that or ill be out with the the compressor lol,

Will do guys, i pick her up end of the week hopefully, ( won on eBay )

Seen her for the first time tonight, all i can see wrong is a blowing manifold / downpipe,

a lil rust under the Battery tray,

my heater controls dont work ( fuse i think)

and my cooling fan will have to be run off a switch ( not a prob)

So im gonna hit the search, and at least become a silver member of this site,

And of course get me a toc sticker :D

 I too have a CarinaE estate (2.0 auto), It's a great car, MOT due soon :!Removed!: Probably will be getting shut of it as I just use my Camry all the time. One thing I got for mine was a genuine Toyota boot liner (Hard plastic) off eBay, nobody else bid & I got it for 99p ! when I picked it up I gave him £1 & let the guy keep the change. Any issues with the car I've got a fair bit of knowledge on them.
