Rav4 Service Due In A Couple Of Days - Advice Please

Ok fellas we have a W reg year 2000 Rav4 Sport 48,000 miles on the clock.

The last service was in October 2006 nearly two years ago when it had done 38,000.

The bloke has quoted £118 ( $230) for a service ( not including plugs as we had them replaced 12 months ago). I understand that it does include NEW air filter , NEW oil filter and NEW fuel filter.

Any suggestions as to anything else I should be having checked/replaced ?

Still unsure as to wether I should have the gearbox oil drained and renewed - what do you guys reckon ??

Also I have read somewhere that there are different types/quality of gearbox oil - I want the BEST so does anyone know what it's called .... I seem to remember that they are graded or something.

Thanks for any responces !!!

Oh well too late now I've bitten the bullet and booked it into the local Toyota dealer ( I have a friend there) they are gonna give it the service of ALL services !!

I won't tell you guys how much it's gonna cost BUT to a novice it's worth it to me for peace of mind !!

Just my luck - mid service I got a call from Toyota saying that the "osf inner cv boot is split /splitting " and it MUST be replaced - they where adamant that I couldn't have the car back until tomorrow has they have to order the part and it wouldn't be worth risking because of the untold damage it could CAUSE !

Ah well another step towards the little beauty being perfect !!

Good advice.

That could drain the gearbox and wreck the transmission if it ran dry.
