Assuming the link below works, this what i am having made for mine, the typhoon lives in the box and cold air pipe i have under the car goes into the box as well, hopefully stopping the typhoon from breathing warm air in.

Am only at the prototype stage at present! The image in the link is a quality job. The image obviously isnt a Corolla!

The link works alright.

I'm thinking of getting one of those made for mine too. A custom one by a friend of mine. With a few cold air pipes leading to the box.

Also - I guess your MAF must be naffed if the lights haven't gone off - Is the car in Limp mode? (wont go over 3000RPM) I'd figure it would be if the MAF was knacked?

Hi again guys,

The car is fixed im told and it was the maf sensor at fault !!

They charged me £80 for diagnostics the first day, £90 for the MAF itself and then another £30 labour to fit

Im hopefully getting a replacement tube for the typhoon which will probably end up on eBay with a cleaned up filter and recharge kit, im just not prepared to be messing anymore and risking another problem. Im sure it would work perfectly well without the support bracket and would stronly recommend not using it if it has proven to work fine.

If anyone is interested let me know

Cheers for the help guys.

Its 2 screws and a connector, £30, like having a licence to print money.

You can get the sensor on e bay for 30 odd by the way, i bought one, works 100%, you can even buy you own diagnostic software and cable for about 30 or 40. Read you own fault codes then.

i know i mentioned this in Post 9. Never, Ever, Ever take yr car to the manufacturer for a diagnostic if u can avoid it.

the tools are available elsewhere to check yourself for much cheaper. i dont know the full ECU out details for the Corolla, but on previous cars, simply shorting 2 pins on the ecu connector would allow it to flash codes out for a diagnosis without having to plug any proper hardware in.

fair enough that safe is safe and you wanted it sorting quickly but if your serious about the home tune (diy CAI's etc) then being able to do this yourself is going to save you a packet, and allow you to run your car better...

Ae10 - what cold air intakes are you suggesting?

custom is really the only way forward - seen a few CAI's but aint sure on the quality of the filter...........

still need a couple of things to finish mine, already got a decent gain but still a couple more ponies to be had - got a few engine mods to fit in the next month :yahoo:
