So i've been thinking of cheap and simple mods to be done on the t-spirit and i've come up with painting the calipers. Has anyone done this and if so what did you use and how did it turn out? was thinking of using hammerite blue and i will not be taking the calipers off to do it!!

cheers!!

Hammerite will be fine, also I use (believe it or not) Humbrol model paint. About three coats are required for a good looking durable finish. Use a small brush for nooks a crannies and take your time.

Also to complete the 'whole' effect consider painting the hub of the disc in either black or silver or metalic grey/gun metal colour - painting hub same colour as caliper dosen't look right.

Incidently DO NOT buy so called 'calliper paint' it's rubbish.

Finally expect to have to re-do your calipers at least once a year!

I painted mine using caliper paint it is rubbish but i managed to touch it up and make it look really nice in the end.

Clean the caliper first even if you are not going to take it off. Use a small brush and work slowly. Give it a couple of coats 3 should be fine and then laquer it to get some shine out of the caliper for a better finish!

The red does look good but i'm thinking blue for some reason. if i laquer the paint will it make it hard to re coat them the following year?

Also i'm kind of thinking it is only a 1.4 and not he t sport so am i try making it look like something it's not? cheers for the replies lads!

Used to see a fella in limerick when i lived there, grey, not thunder, lexus light, 16 inch 5 spokes, painted callipers all that stuff. He had a t sport Badge on it as well. If he'd left it off I wouldnt have thought anything of it apart from may be corolla, not my taste but fair play he made an effort.

But because he was trying to make the car out to be something it wasnt when ever i saw it i just thought t*t. And if id ever met him well i had my opinion made about him, he was a liar!

But hey, he prob doesnt give a sh*t about what i think. I was hoping to meet him at the traffic light one day, but it never happened :(

Lad from town had a 2l Badge on his 1.6 vectra years ago, sad

If it going to make you happier with the car i say paint them cause your not pretending its any faster than it is, just trying to make it look better for yourself

No, they have everything covered that way. They want like national insurance, pay slips, bills and a heap of other crap to prove you lived here for a certain amount of time.

Burden of proof is on you, the revenue always get their slice of the action and if you lie you only end up making things harder for yourself, they'd do a tax audit on you!!!!!

And you dont want that

i've always used folia tec caliper painting kit on all my cars, an get it from demon tweeks, you get cleaning spray, paint an laquer. really good finish.

yeah a agree with paintin the hubs silver or black, i've done mine silver to match the car, paintin them same colour as calipers would be over the top

even if you don't do them blue paint them anyway in another colour, cos when they get rusty lookin looks terrible an it just cleans it up a bit

If i can give you one bit of advice it's HPI it. I wouldn't buy a wheel barrow in the UK without a HPI. That the one for €6200? A lad in the t sport section was say there was a cat d on there going cheap? Dont know is that the one. You know the number stamped on you window. You can ring toyota uk and quote them the chassis and engine number to see do they match there records. Just an extra check you can do.

I may sell mine if i stay in London. If i go back to Ireland I'd be keeping it thou. If you are interested I could let you know what I'm doing at a later date. I woundnt be asking crasy money like the do on carzone!!!! If want the history of the car pm me, i know everything about it, rang the previous owner before i bought it. But like i said I wont be selling it if I'm back in Ireland
