Hello all,

The engine managment light on my car has been on for 6 months now. Fault code was 21 - oxygen sensor... Car in my inexpert opinion is still running the same as it was before the fault light came on. Will this light being on cause it to fail an MOT test?

I put in a second hand sensor from a breakers yard but this too was either faulty or not the exact problem in the first place. I am also wondering if it is worth taking it to a Toyota dealer for a diagnostics check to pinpoint the exact cause of the ECU light being on?

Any advice would be welcome.

the light on shouldn't make it fail an MOT in itself - but there may be a resultant problem from the sensor malfunction.

The 02 sensor probably has a bearing on the emissions that the car produces.

Either Toyota or any autoelectrician can diagnose and repair as necessary.

Good luck

Taking it for a diagnostic would be a good idea.

If it's the oxygen sensor then this will probably play havoc with your emissions.

And i don't think the engine light being on is an mot failure, however, ask when you

take it for a check. :)
