Just had a brainfart for an interesting discussion. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO BUY A CTS ?

I saw one in Evo mag with the Type R around 2003 thought how nice both cars were. I had a Fiat Stilo 2.4 Abarth previously and everything went wrong on it. I thought of buying a type r a couple of years ago which was my first choice, but slightly priced out of my range especially with the trade in price. So went looking for a low mileage CTS found a sunburst red in local dealership but the dealer would not budge on price. So ended up find a black one in north lancs. Happly ever after :toast:

Whats you story ??

hadnt herd of them until my mates father bought one, my mate raved on bout it constantly bfore and during the purchase, explaining all bout the lift, he took us for a drive and i loved it, since that my friend had the old 3rd party insurance so we did few trips in it, just loved the comfort, and ride quality. 3 years later decided to trade my 1.4 clio in and got a really gd deal on an 04 faclift grey t sport RESULT! havent looked back since.

friends dad ripped the ***** for me copying him but all good banter, he has since bought a vxr astra nurburgring, think thatll b my next car haha

I hadn't heard about them until a couple of years ago when my bro had a pe-facelift one. I was only 17/18ish so couldn't afford one. When I bought my Yaris T-Sport just over a year ago my bro bought his compressor. That was when I finally decided that the Yaris just didn't cut it for me so traded it in for the trusty Corolla. Still get jibes off my brother's other half for copying them as well! Haha. Definitely no regrets though...

Worked in a toyota bodyshop when the t sport was released and remember thinking " I wish I could afford one of these!"

Five years later went looking for a new car and test drove a leon cupra r, then saw the TS and had to have it!

Best car I've owned!

My CTS was mainly bought by Sentimental reasons,

I was knocking around in my dads 1.6 EFI Corolla Executive (ohhhhhhhhh yeah the one with the boot how cool was I) and when he got his company van he sort of let me have it it was a good car but it was so so old man ish, unfortunately dad died well sudden and so i was starting to not enjoy driving his car everywhere plus it had started to squeek and a rather loud tapping developed in the engine so it was time for something new, i was looking at skylines, Type R's (i was going to get a DC5) then i was looking at GT4's and the like untill one of my mates was going on about his mates fast corolla, i was like they do one turned out he had a compressor which i couldnt afford but started on the hunt of knowledge for the CTS. it fitted exactly what i needed it was pretty normal looking so wouldnt attract much attention,it was way quicker than my old car but most importantly it was still a Corolla which made me feel happy :)

Only thing is i wish dad could drive it as believe me he would of LOVED the lift.

My CTS isnt just my car its part of the family now.

always liked the T sport, an when i started in Toyota team leader took me out in his to show me wot they could do, an then i really wanted one so threw in an order form for one on the works scheme, then checked insurance an it came out at £3000!!!!!!!! so couldn't get it then :-(

i ended up havin a 2.0 D4D corolla instead, but then couple months ago wanted to but myself a car with some performance in it, looked at all sorts, an thought if i'm gonna get a t sport i've gotta go all the way an get a compressor, so looked at few cars type R, mazda 3 mps list is endless, test drove type R an was quite impressed, but then took test drive in compressor an then that was it wanted the car, performance really good, good bit of kit in car an comfy.

:) :) :) :) :)

i didnt think much of the Tsport until about 2 years ago wen i drove my friends one and LOVED it. Never thought of buying the Type R bcos its soo common and i like my understated car, not that mine is understated now but still not many ppl know bout these cars. Traded in my 1.6 Corolla colour collection. Still love driving it now

I brought one after moving from a Peugeot 206, wanted something bigger and more reliable as the pug couldn't cut it when I moved house and I had electrical gremlins.

Older bro had a Type R but in the end it was too expensive, too common and I didn't like the ride. Must admit the CTR handles better and performance wise is faster but I didn't want something consisting of an engine and bodyshell hence went for the CTS which is the perfect compromise of power and comfort. Utterly reliable and is pretty much affordable nowadays with the rising cost of fuel and tax.

The breaks went on my old 1.4 Astra (luckily it was 05:30am when I shot through the intersection screaming, so no other cars around). So that was a bit of an incentive to get a new car. After the general rubbishness of the Astra I wanted something with power, but I also wanted comfort and gadgets. 5 doors was also a big thing for me too, as was the running costs in terms of insurance etc.

All of that basically pointed me at the CTS and I managed to find a black 5 door model down the road from me, so I bought it as a Christmas present for myself a couple of years back.

I'll be keeping it a little while longer and then looking for a saloon of some description (still undecided on that one - although to my shame I am liking the 335i right now).

I got mine after owning a corolla 1.6 SR and after three years traded it in for my T Sport I wanted something that looked less cheesy than most of the other hatchbacks. Ive had this one 3 years now and I love it, although now sadly it has to go in a few months!! Unless anyone knows of a shipping company which will take it to OZ for less than a small fortune????????? :(

I wouldn't bother. You can pick up a sportivo over there pretty easily and they look nicer too.

I bought mine as i wanted a quick 3rd car, unfortunately though i just cant justify parking £20k worth of M3/M5 in my garage to be used occasionally + my drive is so steep anything low wont go down it removing any chance of a Caterham or similair. So it meant having a quickish 2nd car, however as the Mrs drives it 99% of the time in some right :censor: holes it had to be discreet, i also wanted reliable transport and 5 door is a must. Combine with this only buying German & Japanese cars and we ended up with the CTS.

having owned 3 corolla 1.8 gxi" s over the last 8 years i just had to upgrade.dont get me wrong but the corolla gxi never let me down, thats why i upgraded to the t sport.it was either a subaru impreza, honda type r otr the corolla t sport.the other two are just so common.you see subarus and civic type r"s everywhere.thought the t sport was a dark horse.still is.the look on other drivers faces when you lift right past them!! you cant beat that feeling.long live lift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i bought mine i was just looking at hottish hatches in general, found the TS without knowing A SINGLE THING about it.

Ended up loving it because it was quick, relatively cheap to run/insure and was totally reliable, I could not ask for more for the money.

I came to the TS after a horrid time with a Megane and fate had it that i was to own the TS which put the missing smile back on my face.
