I'm trying to take out the left hand driveshaft from a gearbox (the one without the centre bearing) on my 2002 1.8 avensis. Just can't get it to budge. Am I missing anything?

Any help gratefully received,

Two options:

(i) Pri - bar Use as lever or

(ii) Pri-bar, use as drift together with hammer/mallet.

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...pce-pry-bar-set

The inboard splined end of the driveshaft is only held with a small metal clip. The lips on the drive shaft rubber seals are easily damaged so be careful on refitting

HI,

thanks very much for getting back so quickly. My largest snap on pry bar won't shift it !! :crybaby: and that's after i made a hole in the gbox casing so i had somewhere to leaver against (gbox has self destructed due to a prob with bearings, yes Toyota another one!!)

Just off back out to shout at it see if that helps

Any other sugestions
