is it not behind that little tiny grill on the dash (near the steering wheel) ?

it's not the warning beep, as i stuck it in reverse and put my finger over the grill and it didn't get any quieter.

i found the sensor, its in the roof light ?!? just need to figure out how to stop it going off. I think it might be my bluetooth gps receiver thats triggering it.

I have only had my car a few days and my alarm has activated with no reason!

Do you think wireless/bluetooth devices can cause alarm to go off?

Hi mate,

there is an alarm bonnet switch under the bonnet. theres like an arm to the bracket which touches like a metal lip. if the switch bracket is right up against the metal then you need to slacken the 10mm and kind of twist the sensor in the direction that it raises, so it will be closer to the bonnet when it is closed. this should solve the problem. hope my instructions make sense.lol

good luck

first try the bonnet switch.

what i would do is actually disconnect the bonnet switch and leave it for a week, if it still alarms, chances are (like me) its the microwave sensor.

I have found that my high power bluetooth gps unit seems to set the alarm off. Basically i was under the impression that when my carputer switches off, it kills all the power - how wrong could i be. It only kills 12v to the PC but leaves the 5V (USB RAIL) alive, so my bluetooth was sending off signals at 2.4ghz, which is ironically the same as the toyota alarm.

Hey guys thanks very much for response!

I am using wireless network right next to car that also works at that frequency!

That may be cause...

It seems to have settled down now...touch wood!

If it happens again then I will try your tips...

PS I think your carputer is awesome but I dont think I have brains or patience to do all that work.

pps I love my new T-sport

Hi,

Alarm on the T-Sport. Had the intermittent problem about 4 years ago. If it's any help as the same things keep getting asked/mentioned. The little "grill" next to the steering wheel is an "air intake" that works off venturi action, and is used to sample the internal cabin air temperature for the climate control. Wet back of finger and hold near slots with the fan on. You will feel (very slight) the air being drawn in. There is a thermistor in the airstream.

I had the problem of the alarm intermitantly going off and there were two causes . Primarily it was the bonnet switch, but the symptoms were odd. Lock car and would be O.K. Come back to the car open door and shut again- lock and leave. The alarm would now go off anytime within the next hour, which was the cooling and movement of the bonnet switch. It seems the alarm "ignores" the switch if it is actually in the incorrect state when initially locking.

Before I discovered this I too looked for the microwave sensor in the roof light. Nothing. It is behind the security LED panel and is integrated into the main PCB with all the buttons for the climate control. I am an electronics tech so I dismantled it and looked. There is no manual sensitivity control that I could see. Its all surface mounted components in there. The other thing that can set it off in my case is a microwave oven (No surprise, the frequency band is one and the same). I park in our garage in which the back wall is the internal kitchen wall and so is close to the microwave oven. Put the microwave on and the alarm can go off. Hope that helps anyone.

it might be there on the prefacelift but on the facelift it definitely isn't behind there because i pulled it out during my carputer install and the alarm still worked
