Rant

:ffs:

Need to vent anger.

As some of you may have read on here, we trading the Corolla in for a RAV4 XTR, had it for a month and love it. There was a squeak coming from the front of the car which the main dealer said they could sort and would need it to be booked in. Fine, my wife works 2 miles from the main dealer and it is my best mate who works here, bought the Corolla from them always use them for servicing and have put friends and family his way when purchasing Toyotas. They were also having a look at a few other bits for me today.

Well the wife has just phone. Some To55er at the main dealer has driven our RAV into a wall and scuffed the back side bumper. This was only noticed when my wife checked round the car when she went to pick it. So basically they have tried to get away with it. I get on the phone to my mate and obviously i am a little upset. Who has done this etc etc etc, i want him sacked......(really was not a happy camper at this point). I dont know who did it...... are you telling me that anyone can just drive off in any car there......thenicians yes.....find out who it was otherwise there will letters going to the DP.

Now he has said they will put it right, which is fine and not the point. The sod who did it tried to get away with it. It might just be another car to them but we have spent a lot of money on this and it is new to us. I have explained that unless it looks brand new and as it was before then i will be requiring a new bumper. As you guys know they have a slightly different pain finish on the plastic bits.

Sorry for this.....Rant over now, i feel a little better.

Hmm;

I know how you feel. I service my own car to the point I am prepared to forgo the stamps and even the warranty as I simply do not want anyone to touch it. If anyone is going to make a mess of it well it might as well be me. Luckily my dealer knows my background and is prepared to still do the warranty work but the thought of it gives me the creeps. I paid £400 for reversing sensors from new and when I removed the interior to fit improved lighting I found greasy boot prints, wires trailing all over the place and bits of tie wraps etc etc.

Mine is booked in for next week to have the steering intermediate shaft replaced but if I'm honest I'd rather they just give me the parts and let me do it. Your experience does nothing to comfort me!!!

Incidentally, any 4.3 owners listen carefully when turning your steering at low speeds for a creaking noise. This was highlighted by the US guys and will be very expensive to put right out of warranty. Look here;

You will have to leave it with them though!!!

I guess the thing to do is take a picture of every side of the car before you take it in just in case you need to prove it was not 'like that' when you took it in, in case the dealer refuses to accept responsibility.

My brother took his escort into a ford dealer for some work a long time ago and when he went to collect it it had lots of chips on the side and he was not too happy. The dealer said that there was no way that it could have happened at the dealership and just at that point, some brainless mechanic tore along a side road where the cars in for service were and sent showers of gravel flying everywhere!

When mine went back for the last lot of repairs to the HP Fuel pump...came back and garage said do you want to check over the car as we found some damage.. I said I knew about the small chip on the fuel flap.... but was not prepared for the missing back smoked acrylic spoiler on the rear door... The whole thing piratically had been torn off... :eek: :eek: They fitted a new one and billed the other garage... being a new TOYOTA part must have cost em as well.....Too !Removed! right....

I make the garage check my car before I hand it over and then check again when I pick it up....

there is no doubt they did it, like i say he is my best mate and knows exactly what i am like. I look after all of our cars, all hand washed, never car wash, even use the two bucket method on the Lotus. People spend a lot of money on cars and then let them go to *****e, i keep mine in good condition and am proud of it. Wife will be home shortly so will be able to take a look.

PS: now have a beer at home so feeling a little better after the rant. :cheers:

Sorry to go off topic... :lol:

Does the above have to be done straight away? Mine has starting 'clicking' in the last month, but as I knew what it was, I was sort of hoping I could leave it to my next service! :rolleyes:

Hi

my RAV developed a slight creak going slowly round R/H corners, that was when the vehicle was new. I took it back and nothing was found they said bring it back if it gets worse, I must admit the noise did go away I occasionally hear it on hot dry days thought it might just be a noisy bush. The vehicle has its 20000 ml service next month so i will bring it to there attention again!

I really sympathise with your car being damaged by a ***** in the garage. The worst aspect of it is that the guy responsible tried to get away with it; and in all likliehood there were probably others also aware of the incident. On my last service I had to foot a bill for a new tyre, because they found a screw in my tread. But where did this screw come from, it did not exactly have the words *Toyota Motor Corporation * stamped on it, but it was pristine new !!!

I am also a little alarmed at reading comments on the forum about quite big jobs having to be done on Ravs in the early part of their lives; such as the steering issue. I thought Toyota had the reputation of being faultless; did I do the right thing in getting rid of my Picasso and C "2.

Nothing unusual in what you say regarding damage to your car, happens all the time & culprit will keep his mouth shut. But when your vehicle was booked in did service staff not look at car with you & make notes on back of service sheet ie: picture of general car shape on back of page & an x placed against any noticed damage. Or is it now below service book-in staff to come out with customer & have quick look at car.
