Stinky Aircon

My aircon is getting real stinky. It is so bad I have to turn it off if I have company. Is there a filter somwhere? 1997 "Googely eyed" 1.6 saloon

Sounds like you have bacteria, mould and fungi growing in your car air conditioning system :( you can smell the stale air when you switch your air conditioning on.

use comma air-con cleaner, not a bad deal.

You need a new Air conditoning unit filter.

it is fitted under the passenger side glove box (a rectanguler long piece of plastic holds it up and is retain by 4 'push' little rubber plugs).

A genuine filter off Toyota is about £25 and the part no is T88508-12010

(it also includes an instruction sheet with pictures where filter is located)

Finally before you pull old filter out put a sheet of newspaper on the foot well below it - the debris that will come out may be quite shocking!
