does anyone know anyone who has had an engine transplant for the yaris??

i have seen a few for example a celica 1.8 engine in a yaris!

i was wonderin what would be involved in swapping a 1.3 yaris engine for a 1.5 engine?

would the engine bay need modification?

would the ecu need adjusting or could u swap it for a 1.5l ecu??

cheers

no its a 1.3 yaris SR

its just if i was gonna spend any money moddin the engine

-induction kit, full exaust, cams, chip ect id rathersp[end that money on a 1.5 engine than 1.3

i would only by one off a smashed up car,but the chances of finding one are pretty minimal!

any help would be appreciated

thanks

yeah your better off tuning the 1.5 as this is really the only engine thats going to respond to tuning the most, ok so the others will but the gains will be very minimal

the 1.5 should go into the sr easily i would have though as it is the same configuration whilst the 1.0 is different altogether..

for the lump you could try a specialist toyota breaker because they are a little rare to find at the time

wouldnt the 1.0 be as easy to swap cuz the 1.3 and 1.0 are nearly the same, as the induction kit is the same fitment but not the same as the 1.5

and how much is a 1.8 conversion?

cheers

no the 1.0 is the SCP engine with the airbox on the top and the exhaust manifold on the front

the 1.3 and 1.5 are the NZ engines with the airbox down the side and the manifold comes out the back of the engine

no idea how much for a 1.8 conversion but id assume youll be diggin deep down the back of the settee cusions!

but..............190bhp (mite i add in std form!) in a car that weighs less than a ton!:drool::drool:

any day absolutely any day!

Don't forget that with an increase in power, you're gonna need to be able to stop quicker too! You'll see that the TSport Yaris has 4 brake discs (I think?!) whereas the SR only has the front two. After being in crashes, I like to make sure that I have more than enough braking power to stop my car in time...!

It would be pretty tricky to source something like a YTS engine, but I suppose unfortunate accidents do occur, but personally I don't think it's worth the hassle - I'd just get myself a YTS and go from there - probably work out the same kind of price difference as if you bought an engine and paid for its installation??

Nice idea tho, and wouldn't mind seeing how they managed to fit a 1.8 Celica engine in a Yaris

chrisb - cheers  momo quasars are a nice rim, they just do em in normal silver tho, but hey thats wot custom colours are!

you would need the ecu from the 1.5 engine

pav - yup the TS has discs allround an damn good they are i must admit check Fensport for the mental 10 and 6 pot conversions!

a 1.8 has been bunged in by Active Engineering and it dont leave much room!

im just tryin to get ideas of what i can do

i would also upgrade the brakes i have had a quote from bremsport for some custom made 4 pot calipers and 350 mm discs 900quid

but u can get a six pot upgrde for 1100 from trd

thats only 200 quid for a fair bit more stopping power

i also considered selli up and bying a 1.5 but i realy like the sr shape and i think i prefer it!!

Well, it was a standard SR front bumper, but I had a small front skirt attached, and also the fogs incorporated into the existing part. To be fair, I had it done 3 yrs ago now, and in comparison to the way Toyota fit them now, mine look a bit shoddy..! Ah well.

Wht would you swap the 1.3L for an 1.5L since there are many 1.5L already out there

The easiest thing would be to trade-in your 1.3 for a 1.5 and then start modding.

I personally would only do an 1.8L swap, or whatever, if you can (partially) do it and if you are not afraid to take care of many small problems after the installation.

If you want more power and do it the easies way, is to get an 1.5L and then to get a Turbokit or a Supercompressor.
