Engine Swap Celica To Rolla '76

hi there...

as i said on introdution, i have a ke-35 (similar to te-37) '76 corolla to transform... bought a wrecked celica gt with a 3sge on, and want to swap engine with rolla... (its a 1200cc only) after all brakes and suspension planned i've reached the engine topic to plan... and the suitability of the process isn't boring me, but a great doubt as i'm a noob on these engines (i just used to make toys with old carbs engines and motocycle)...

my 3sge is a 1st generation, with TVIS vacuum system... does this engine needs it to work properly????? haw can i remove it? my problem is space on engine bay :P... but i've seen pics of rollas with this engine (and 4age's) without vacuum systems... even saw a mini 1275 with a 4age on it, and saw it without the TVIS... my question... how to get rid of it and how to do this???

TVIS is very useful, helps for nice flat torque curve, but is you wan rid you might look to getting a later model celica intake manifold and ECU to match.

hi...

TVIS is a system yamaha developed for their 2stroke engines... i know it well, it levels air pressure for combustion... what i need to know is... can i remove it, seal the intakes holes and run the engine without new ECU? kind of direct air, instead of TVIS?? I used to do this on 2strokes... less torque for start but it was not important as engines worked on high revs... hmmm... guess i'll wait a litle more... and read a lot more about this...

by the way, my rolla is 500Kg with no engine, had a 60 hp engine... more or less torque isn't a problem with 3sge.. i guess... i almost have torque enough in my legs to pull that car, lol, kind of a flinstone Mobil... lol...

T-VIS manifold carry's sensors for throttle position and manifold pressure, i dont think the ECU will allow you to run without signals from these. Although, i'm not entirely sure on this. I have posted similar enquiries, concerning the fitting of Twin 40 carb's or similar. The question is, how many of the sensors do you have to have for the engine to run?

Will the engine run and advance, without the intake system sensors? I'd like to know!! I argue that it won't run due to the inter-relation of the ECU and sensors. A friend of mine seems to think that you can get away with ditching the T-VIS, as the distributer and coil will look after themselves.

hi...

i have a pair of double dellortos i'd like to put in there, and manifolds for them is something i can get done by PACHANCHO, a racing component builder over here... my question is about electronics, i guess... as distributer system is mechanical (apart of ECU) i can get it work (gasoline and spark=combustion, lol), but must have a ECU (and here -Portugal-theyre quite expensive) to control fuel pump pressure... if the original one could work it would be sweet, i could even use original dashboard...

i can always swap engine WITH TVIS into the corolla, is just a matter of cutting the hood and have a hump on it, but i'd rather have it looking stock (it would be easyer to fool BMW's and HONDA's "weekend racers" here, :P)

thanks people for helping me... i'll keep on studing this matter... first week of September the celica engine will come off, then i'll start testing fuel pressure and will read ECU on BOSHMETRICS to test those damn sensors :)

untill then, have a nice summer, i'm going to the beach :P
