Hi - looking at the Toyota site as some scab pinched out number plates and I need a rear picture (official) of an Aygo+ as the car they found the plates on is a Yaris....and they want me to pay several parking tickets unless I can prove otherwise. The only photo of the back I can see on the Toyota site is a car which looks to have a few TTE spoilers added.....i need a plain one.

Anyway - our car doesn't have a + on the back - is that just Toyota on their site or has it dropped off?

new reg on order.....this has been a nightmare.

Local Authority / Private Parking Firm / Traffic Warden ticket ?

I'm not sure what they expect the 'official picture' to show that they can't see for themselves, they have the wrong car.

I assume the fact that your plates were stolen was reported to the Police ?

Whoever is issuing the parking tickets should have taken other details down when issuing the tickets. Make/Model/Reg of car is a must, some also are required to take down the number on the Road Tax or even a photograph of the offending vehicle in situ.

If any of these details are taken incorrectly the ticket may be invalid, getting the car colour slightly wrong isn't normally a problem, but writing down that the offending vehicle is a Yaris when the plates belong to an Aygo should be enough to get the ticket thrown out.

Did the other recorded details match your car ?

Has your vehicle been debaged ?

If so, they could argue that car model is harder to identify, which is why they are supposed to look at the Road Tax.

If not I would just take a photo of the back of your car and send that to them, they will see that it has the word 'Aygo' fairly prominent on the back of it. Take a picture of a local Yaris whilst you are at it so they can see the difference.

Write back politely that your vehicle wasn't parked in the locations involved at the times they have recorded. Point out that your number plates were stolen as reported previously(if you have a crime ref send it). Tell them that the details of the vehicle they have issued a ticket to don't match your vehicle as it is a different model etc. In your letter ask for the matter to be dropped or referred to the Parking Ombudsman, and that any correspondence other than to drop the matter or pass it on further will be regarded as harrassment (and you will take legal advice). They are wasting your time and causing you undue stress, and you are the victim of a crime that is now being victimised further by the authorities.

Keep a copy of the letter and send it recorded/registered mail.

If they keep pushing, go to your local Police Station and say that you are being harrassed for money by them and show them copies of the letters etc. If you can make it an harrassment case it becomes criminal and a complete nightmare for them to pursue (from what I have been told by police in the past, it becomes harrassment once you have told the 'harrasser' that you feel it is). You can also try your local CAB or see if a local solicitor is offering free advice sessions.

If this was happening to me I'd look at this as an opportunity to do unto them what they have been doing to you. Lay it on a little thick but don't actually lie.

They should have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that your vehicle was parked illegally.

Not sure if this is any help, but I found these pics on the Dutch Toyota site:

thanks for your replies!

had the car from new so it hasn't been debadged, just says aygo and not aygo+.....ah well.

i got the photos throught today.....its a 2001 Yaris in silver, the council guy has even pointed out the tax disk is from another car. i have 5 parking tickets pending, got the refs, we already had a couple of congestion charge tickets we have dealt with....sick of the admin. seems neither the police, congestion people or council can talk to each other....we have to co-ordinate, all the while some idiot kept issuing tickets - you'd have thought he'd have noticed but i guess he didn't care....a ticket's a ticket right?!

the good news (for us anyway) is the Yaris has been impounded....bad news is the police don't won't give back the plates - so we bought a new one (tried a reissue three times fom dvla, all recorded but each time they 'lost' them...useless).

the new number is a cracker though....

once again thanks for the advice, big boz that's a good plan!

Aygo + doesn't say '+' on it. The only way to tell from the back is by the lack of a keyslot for the boot as it's on the central locking.
