Ball Park Figure For Parking Sensors

Hi,

Just trying to put some figures together re buying new as opposed to buying a 1 or 2 year old Verso.

Does anyone know a ball park figure that a dealer would charge for putting both front and rear parking sensors on a T3 Verso?

Any thoughts on whether haggling for a cash discount on a used car or haggling for getting the sensors fitted would be preferable? Or a bit of both in this credit crunch Britain?

Thanks,

T.

Edit

A Toyota dealer has just quoted me £870 incl to have front and rear fitted.

I did some similar maths when I was looking. In the end the £1,000 Toyota contribution (if you used their finance) made me go for the new car. Also factor in a full 3 years of warranty, 1 year of RAC cover and the fact the SR spec now has front and rear sensors (back in April mine only had rear sensors). Brand new car will be replaced for new (by most insurers) if written off in year 1.

I know the new car will depreciate faster, probably to the value of some of the year 1 extras but at least you benefit from the extras.

Have a look at this thread although it is not recent but it will give you an idea

Although the discussion is about an Auris the same principles apply

Thanks bjw.

I was looking at 3 1.8 07 T3 petrols yesterday in the West Country for £12,650 a piece, all with about 10 - 12K miles on the clock, all metallic and all on sale for £12,650 each. Today, they are all £11,450 each.

I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of buying one of these and getting parking sensors added - nearly £900 seems steep to me - or opting for the 0% deal and getting a new 1.8 SR for, via a broker, a sum of £15,829 plus £350 for metallic plus an extra £250 for the 0% deal.

Apparently, Toyota add £250 to the bottom price they will give you if you go down the 0% route. This is 0% on 10K over 3 years with the rest being paid up front as a cash deposit.

I have the cash and am trying to figure out why I wish to pay out an extra 5 or 6 grand over 3 years for a new car which, from what I can see, is at best worth 12K within a year? Or am I missing something?

We were quoted £250 for the rear sensors (last december) from a main dealer.

In the end we haggled and got them included in the purchase price .. cost price is much lower to a dealer of course!

Looks like there's a new Verso in 2009 so be prepared for a big depreciation if you buy new in 2008.

Not sure if this would help, but I recently queried cost of rear parking sensors from a dealer in London. The same dealer (albeit from different sales staff) quoted two different(!) prices for rear parking sensors. One quoted approx £250, the other (on a separate occassion) quoted £350. Go figure....

If you are looking at a price tag of aro £11,500, definitely worthwhile negotiating the inclusion of both front & rear sensors for an additional couple of hundred.

Rear Parking Sensor Kit £19.99 plus £5.00 p&p

If you fancy a bit of DIY you could get a kit like this.

(N.B> I haven't used this kit so I have no idea of it's quality or ease of installation - just throwing it into the hat as an alternative to hundreds of pounds at a main dealer!)

IT was me who had the sensors fitted front and rear. Cost me a lot but wouldn't be without them. BUt the dealers don;t like doing the front ones cause they are a pain.
