Hi I fitted a tuning chip from Dragon performance originally this was the type that boosts the common rail pressure and it kept putting on the management light and loosing all power (no fun in an overtake). Dragon in the end gave a full refund.

I fitted the one from Parts King/Lindop toyota about a year ago and it is superb the car is far better to drive and around 10% better fuel economy.

It was originally fitted to a 2l d4d and now is on a new 2.2l highly recommended for both.

Just to clarify, your using a 2.0d d4d chip on your t180 from parts king? Or did you get the 2.2d chip? They dont do a 2.2d chip they had problems with it. Unless you mean the 150bhp not the t180.

My friend has a venom unit on his avensis and it makes a huge difference to his mid range power and certainly makes his car quicker . It feels as big an improvement as the more expensive chip i have on my auris. If i had known earlier i would have saved money and got a venom over my steinbauer .I have to agree the unit must be faulty or the settings ( pins that can be changed for more power) set too low . Hope this helps ps. his economy has not changed but he does drive quickly.

so how much has your insurance gone up by? When i had a celica, i used a specialist insurer as it was modified. these days i use churchill and don't fancy 'hoping i get away with it'

I assume these kits need to be declared?

Would you declare using hi-performance fuel in your car instead of standard fuel.?

The amount of difference this unit makes I shouldn't think would worry the insurer - I could be a greater insurance risk just driving faster and ignoring speed limits!!!

lol, if only it worked like that!!! if you modify your car your insurance is almost certainly void. all things have to be declared. some companies also consider factory fitted options as mods and although they may not charge any more for the cover, they have to be declared.

  • 3 months later...

i think he got rid of his t180 a month or 2 ago

there is a thread in the auris forum, Kingo may have a t180 box surfacing soon.

Keep watching for any announcements.

If its what i think it is then i should be better than the vast majority that just sort of force fuel.
