Rev Limiter

I have a celica gt4 st205, just had a new engine put in it, the last one wasnt limited. I tried running it up to over 100mph but it would not let me go above 115mph, im just a bit stuck because from what i have found out the limiter seems to be tied in to the ECU which was not changed. I am guessing there is something on the engine pegging it back has anyone got any ideas of where it might be or if there could be a problem?

is your car JDM or UKDM? the speed limiter is in the dials cluster, was the engine from the same DM as the speed sensor might be differant causing this?

JDM but i am not 100% on that i will try and find out. Do you know how the limiter works, as you go past 100mph you can feel it start to kick in its as if it cuts the fuel and it junts a bit as the speed cuts down. Is this normal as i have never come across a limiter. No electrics were replaced when replacing the engine and the speedo is in mph, so i am a bit stuck at the moment maybe i should just try hooking up a delimiter.

that sounds as though it's a speed limiter, kicks in at 112, not sure what you should do as i don't know the DM the car/engine have scome from as it may have happened whislt hooking the new engine up to the loom
