Sorry this is not going to be a helpful reply, but the difficulty described sounds similar to what has happened with my Lucida over the past few weeks. Everytime I open the passenger door a good bit of water splashes out on to the ground. If this is similar to the difficulty you had and have got any further in solving the problem I'd be grateful to know.
