Rear Brake Issue

Hi! Just bought a Celica T Sport on 2003 plate and have a light grinding noise from the rear brakes. The cause looked to be the pads as they where low and so replaced them and inspected the discs which looked ok. The brakeing has immproved but however the noise remains..... I've been told that there is a brake wear indicator that touches the disc when the pads become low and it may need re-setting??? If this is true then does any one know where it is and how you "re-set" it....? Thanks for any help anyone can give me ;)

how loud is the grinding? it can be caused by pitting on the disc face

It can be heard with the windows down and only when driving slow....

it is hard say what it is without hearing the noise first hand. im qutie sure there is no electrical wear indicator on the rear brakes. it could only be an audiable indicator on the pads, which you have replaced. can only be pitting on the rear discs which is a comman problem or rust and brake dust inside the rear disc hub where the handbrake unit is.

i had this noise on my 140 i replaced my brakes at the front but left the back because they was ok. and on my latest mot only problem was an advisory saying noise from the rear brakes. so i took them apart agen put them bk together after finding no problems i decided to do some emergency stops and belive it or not noise gone. strange lol no noise now for 2 months

I think the next plans gonna be some harsh breaking to see if I can clear them up a bit but failing that whats the best brand to go for in the way of rear discs...? I know the Toyota ones don't last long so I'm thinking something with a bit more life expectancy...

Had the same thing on mine & it turned out to be the metal shroud that sits behind the brake disc rubbing on the disc.

Easy to bend back into shape once you've removed the wheels..
