Did the T180 grill not fit after all Stew? Or is this the cheaper option instead?

Just a re-cap needed here i Think, I originally wanted to fit the T180 grill to my XT4, i was happy to pay the £80 for the complete grill, however A.M. pointed out that i would need to remove the front bullbar +bumper to do this, TBH i didn't feel confident enough to do it myself. A.M. has recently kindly offered to help me, But it seems a lot of trouble for a bit of bling..Earlier this year (feb) Dave M spotted the same grill as hoovie which requires no fitting and i ordered it from Formula 4 in Staffs. 3 mths later and a lot of correspondence my grill had still not arrived, and i got a letter from F4 telling me that they had gone in to administration and i would not be getting my order and had lost my £10 deposit, Now Hoovie has come up with this one, i have ordered it, for the original reason i.e. its a lot easier to fit  But i am still convinced the complete T180 grill will fit..

if you are looking for something similar to that I posted on this thread, but for a 4.2, then there is a 'billet grill' option for sale on eBay usually. I have one of those on my 4.2.

Oh my gawd guys, it's bad enough that us T180 owners end up flashing XTR owners when we see the chrome grille, now everyone is jumping on the band wagon, lol :D only joking  If it's any help, I know that cobra do some additional bling for the grilles but a) think it involves a fair bit of friggin about to fit and B) with formula 4X4, now down the tubes, you will probably need to order direct from Germany

Well thanks to Hoovie my grill bits arrived to day, real stainless steel, not chromed plastic like the T180 ones  will prob fit (stick on) at weekend

will post piccy's.. now as i reckon my chip gives me 165 bhp i need to find another 12bhp somewhere, any suggestions? then some carbon quartz flared arches and i will have near enough a T180 without runflats and a spare on the back, Then need to talk Anchorman into fitting a photochromatic rear view mirror, 90 degree check strap, and upgraded horns and thats about it, till i think of something else, thanks once again Hoovie, and Dave M for spotting the grill originally..I will be sure to give you T180 guys a flash, if only to move over (only joking)

Let's hope you have the chance inbetween rain-showers :)

Is it just self-adhesive then? The bling-grill bits I bought (different model, of course) bolted on with a plates and nuts to keep in in place and once thing I didn't like was the bolts were very long and ended up about 3/4" from the rad - so a little bump in the front could hole the rad, so decided to chop them down a bit just in case.

Have you not got the checkstrap mod yet, Stew? that has got to be a must - Sooooo annoying the way the door is restricted.

Let me know when you are ready. We could have done the horns and the grille at the same time!!!

Hoovie

Are you pleased with your horns? Yes I said HORNS!!!

Whats that?? Can't hear you - my horns keep going off!! :toot::toot:

You know what - I don't know :ermm: I keep forgetting to try them  They sure are more manly in size then the original ones. I need to take a drive out somewhere quiet.

The horns on the 4.3 are behind the Grill then, rather then the bumper like the 4.2?

Kingo

Just that i don,t get a lot of time to do all the things i'd like to do, so this bit of bling seems the easy option, plus i am bone idle..

not sure about boosting my chip, might make it smokey, and TBH i like it the way it is, but would just like those extra few horses to bring me up to t180 spec  Kingo just a quickie, that testimonial where the guy had a switch to turn his chip on +off, why would you want to turn it off?

I will contact you over check strap, might do that  Anchorman, as always your very generous offer of help much appreciated, but i am in no rush for any of these things and feel guilty that i should really be attempting these things myself, i seem to barely have time to even wash + polish it at the

moment, and have a million and one things i should be do'ing around the house as well

Dave, I'm curious. Was that a:

  1. "I'm sure I could fashion some of those out of a bit of scrap metal" Hmmmmmmmm
  2. A "I mentioned those a few months ago" Hmmmmmmmmmm
  3. Or a "I wanted a set of those and some ****er beat me to it" Hmmmmmmmm

If it was number 3, I apologise. I confess it was me who got the other set that was up for grabs, as I can't be bothered to take the front bumper off for the full grill.

No 4, despite the fact that I said i was not going to bling my 4.3 as much as I blinged my 4.2, I quite fancy those :lol::lol::lol:

To be honest Stew I have no idea why you would want to turn it off, but I have had a few customers who have done this, he is not the first. They give more power and you use a tad less fuel so why would you? Unless it is purely for using the momentary MPG figure on the meter

Kingo

Chatman/Dave..I am ashamed to say it has been like that from new, I ordered the car and the following day, asked for the (style pack) to be added so i don't know if it was fitted at port of entry, or by the dealer, and TBH until i joined this forum + saw pics of others i didn't realise it wasn't right

Ive kind of burnt my bridges with that dealer, and now use lindop for my servicing etc.. lindop have said they will have a look at it, but to me it seems unfair to ask them to rectify another dealers ***** up!! however if it was fitted by Mr T then i assume they would be able to claim the time spent against warranty..

And after all that Anchs has offered to whip my bumper off + sort it out for me, and i know if he did it, it would be as perfect as is possible but i don't want to put him to a load of trouble, when the people responsible should be sorting it out..So back to the original dealer i think!!Not keen on confrontations bit of an old softy really :(
