Why Did The Uk Not Get The 5dr Facelift Cts/ctsc?

Every time i see Ponzers car, i cant help but wonder why didn't the 5dr Face-lift didn't make in the UK. Was it ever made in RHD for the other markets e.g ROI or AUS?

My guess would be because the CTR has no 5dr model in the UK, however almost all the competitors do i.e ST,MPS,Megane,Golf GTI,Cupra etc etc, strange really.

So as i must have a 5dr, what will i do when the Rolla has to go?! I dont want a Diesel Auris

They did not make the 5dr because there was not enough demand for the 5dr T Sport derrivative in the UK.

Same reason the saloon and the estate have been dropped in the UK.

also the market in the uk is small as its RHD. You can sell a 5dr LHD car in all of western europe, the spec is pretty much the same. but only RHD markets are ireland, uk and malta i believe.

Maybe lack of demand is reason but wouldnt of thought there was lot of demand that the 5dr compressor was sold in parts of europe since some european countries didnt even get the 3dr compressor never mind 5dr one. but hey in UK we often miss out on certain cars that rest of europe & even out side of europe gets so i dont think is due to demand all the time when we dont get certain cars. the 5dr facelift t sport in aus/japan(not called ts over there) isnt from UK factory, the 3dr corolla was made in UK for europe only hence lack of japanese brand body kits/exhausts for the 3dr. not sure if ireland got the facelift 5dr ts wouldnt surprise me they get some cars that we dont get

I just find it odd as a 5dr Face-lift's body would look like the SR's and the mechanicals would be the same as the 3dr as with the Pre Face-lift, so the bits were already in the parts bin. To me as all the bits already existed its as if a bod in Toyota product planning forgot to sign it off. I could understand it if the Face lift cars were drastically different but mechanically they aren't .

Oh well, you cant have it all :)

the roi market is the same bar a few little things like vauxhal trade as opel but cars are all the same. no 5 door compressor here. but import rules are more leanient here

Maybe someone should buy a Corolla 1.6SR and stick the T-Sport's lump in it or even better a Compressor engine. :D

I've only ever seen a handful up here, but just down the road there's one driven by a middle aged lady and is an 05 plate like mine - with 5 doors! Is the SR pretty much the same in terms of body kit to the facelift CTS, just this car has the 5 door skirts, spoiler, badges, exhaust, etc - it's a CTS!! OR someone has maybe badged an SR up like one and she bought it that way - I'll have to chase her next time and ask some questions!

Apart from the TS Badge and I think the exhaust, an SR will look cosmetically identical to a TS apart from the colours available and the fact you can get 5 doors. What exhaust does it have? The standard TS one or the Twin TTE?

I would imagine it can only be a tarted up SR or a CTS import.

The reason I have the pre-facelift is because I wanted 5 doors. If it hadn't been for that then I would definitely have got the face lift.

The front bumper is also different, doesn't have the same mesh sporting the T Sport Badge.

HAHAHAHA yeah I'm the same. The CTS is a rare sight around where I live (the YTS is common as muck though, but the grumpy so n sos never acknowledge me).

When I spot a CTS in the distance I go to wave as we pass, then realise it is just an SR and give them the finger instead (OK relax it was a joke guys...... I actually try and force them off the road instead ;) )

I've been stuck in traffic along side it several times, seen it from both the front (has the T-Sport Badge and grill) and back, where it's also badged, and has the the standard TS exhaust. Does the SR use the TS exhaust? Not sure of the colour name, but it's the light silver metalic.

The SR only came as a 1.6 or 2.0 D-4D and the 1.8 exhaust does not fit, so there must be some about!

I have to agree, that does sound like the most likely explanation - they've done a good job of it! :D

It's sometimes in Tescos car park so I still reckon a covert op is needed to learn the truth!

In all honesty mate, Toyota should send a team over to take some pointers from your car. It is a crackingly good looking Corolla. If they made them like that as standard they'd be on to a winner.
