I bought a second-hand Aygo from Jemca (edgeware) a year ago, and am taking it for its 20k service tomorrow. When I bought the car I took in a voucher for 2 years free servicing. Firstly the dealer made me go on the internet to show him where i had got the voucher from which i thought was strange as the voucher was on the jemca group site, then proceeded to take the voucher from me, saying that he'd put it in my file and all was well and that i would get my free servicing. When i rang toyota to book the service, bearing in mind i'd bought the vehicle from them a year ago they said the following:

The car had not been looked at since dec 2006 (i bought it in Aug 2007) and as an approved used car it should have been fully inspected

There was no record of my 2 years free servicing on my file.

Jemca never wrote to me to tell me my car was due for servicing in sept 2007 (when the car would have been 2 years old) nor did they remind me subsequently about this. The dealer that sold me the car has since left Jemca-he told me my first service would be due in Aug 2008-a year on from when i bnought the car. I feel truely done-over by the dealership, which i trusted, being a Toyota dealer, and would like to know if anyone has experienced the same, or has any advice for when i take my car in tomorrow. I can't believe they have been so unprofessional in dealing with me, and with their handling of the situation.

What stamps do you have in the service book?

Do you have proof of purchase on whichever card you used to to pay for it?

It's a poor situation whatever happens if it did miss a service; there's no way you can turn the clock back and get it done now. All you can do is try to prove that you purchased the servicing and make sure that whatever was missed does get done now.

If you paid by visa then you may have some come back that way; if so tell the garage you'll be talking to the credit card company. If they took the money from a credit card transaction they won't really want you to pursue that avenue because it'll look very bad on them.

The offer was for two years free servicing with any used car so they wouldn't have taken any money for it. The service stamps say Dec 2006 at Jemca Edgeware so my bad for being naive when i bought the car.... The offer was one that was set up by the dealership at the time, they must remember that they ran it and i have all the receipts of purchase etc....

will see what happens tomorrow i guess
