Hi,

A while ago the fan for blowing air into the cabin died. I have looked through the internal fuse box and the one under the bonnet and cant find a fuse or relay that might be to blame. Obviously it could be the switch or fan itself but assume there must be a fuse and/or relay that should be checked first.

Model is the 1994/95 Carina E 2.0 Executive.

Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Paul B

Hi, paul and welcome,

Check if there's power getting to the switch, just take the facia off and get a volt metre on it,

if there's no power then try swapping relays around. could be a break in the wires leading from the switch.

if there is power try it on the wires to the motor, if there's power to both then it's the switch.

Chances are your looking at a burnt out motor.

Good luck let us know how you get on.

Hi Trev,

Thanks for the advice.. was rather hoping someone might know if there is a fuse or relay for the fan first before i start trying to check the switch and fan.. neither of the covers on either fuse box lists a heater fan so there might not be but it must be fused somewhere (even if its off a fuse that feeds multiple items). If I cant find one then I'll follow your advice and will let you know.

Cheers,

Paul

I've had a look at the bible of haynes and you have two fuses in the passenger fuse box

which the heater runs through a 10amp which covers,

guages and meters

service reminder indicators

warning buzzers

econodrive monitor

automatic transmission overdrive system

heated rear window

electric windows

central locking

heated screen

charging system and electric aerial

a 40amp which covers,

headlight cleaner

charging system and supply to other fuses.

Then in the engine fuse box there is two fuses

a 100amp

covering charging system and supply to lots of others.

a 50amp for air conditioning

also there is a relay that the heater runs through too.

Hope this helps fella B)

Hi

Is the fan dead on all speed settings?

If no, then it could be the Heater Blower Resistance, unit 98, (in haynes manual section 12. page 20)

It should be near the fan housing and when removed it has three elements and one, two or all three could be broken and the fan will not work.

I hope this helps
