Vvtli Problem Sorted

Hello Guys.

Just a quick update on the VVTLI OCV problem that the main dealer quoted me £700 to repair took it to another garage and it took them approx 1hr 20mins to sort the problem.

They removed the OCV housing and then extracted the very small filter from behind it which was completely blocked with gunge caused by the previous owner using the wrong oil.(Cost of cleaning £35)

The car now runs sweet as a nut and the lift comes in right on 6000rpm

The main dealer informed me that the top of the engine including the cams needed to be stripped to replace the VVTLi OCV what a complete load of " Bull"

Got the impression that they were trying to have me over I am now in the proccess of writing to Toyota UK regarding this matter and hope they will take some action to prevent this from happening to some other unsuspecting driver.

On another line have any of you changed the Audio in your car I would like to upgrade my own form the Sony that was fitted in the car to a player with mp3 but as of yet have been unable to find one with the same dimensions any suggestions would be a great help.

that's an excellent result mate.

I've noticed a lot of places charging a 'worst case scenario' price - whether it is or not. It covers them and prepares you for the final bill...........but if it does turn out to be a simpler repair there's no guarantee that you'd be told this !!

Second opinions are worth their weight in gold on occasions like this !
