Previa Starting Issues

Long time no speak!

Well, my previa has developed a slight issue.. seems to not want to start everynow and then.

I turn the key and it feels like the igniton is strained as the sound but then try again and rev and all ok.

Any idea?

I have the same problem... not sure what it is. Had the starter and Battery tuned up... still happens. Anyone out here have this going on?

Oldest problem in the book with these cars. The copper contacts in the starter motor are worn. They will cost you +- £11 from Toyota, although you may be able to find them on eBay. Takes about 30 - 45 mins to take the starter motor out and fit them. Can be done with the motor in situ but I would strongly recommend against it. There is a mounting nut on top of the starter just under the EGR valve that is a bit fiddly to get to.
