Paint Type / Construction

Is there a toyota paintwork boffin here who can tell me what type / hardness and structure the paint finish on a 1998 Land Cruiser (UK version) has.

i.e. Primer, base coat with clear coat, primer and top coat 'cellulose' etc etc

I decided to rejuvinate the paintwork a little - it was oxidised and tired, it looks OK now but more work is needed - the reason I ask is that initially the paint colour was coming off on the cloths - now it doesn't but this seems to say there is no lacquer or clear coat present - should there be ??

I plan to attack the scratches / chips, some of which are pretty deep and I would like to reconstruct the layers as they should be - there is no way I can ever blend a clear coat into an uncoated cellulose.

Advice please.

Sounds like a single stage paint ie no clearcoat that why the cloths are green the paint will be soft.
