By sticking the Verso forum in the Corolla forum what is the link ???

er.........it's a Corolla - same way the Yaris Verso got integrated into the Yaris section

Would a new member look in the corolla forum for information about the Verso !! no he would look in the MPV forum it just makes sense

I have no problems with the reorganization of the forums but it has to be logical

I was talking about the Yaris TS section, the Corolla Verso thing is a different issue

Gaz - Without meaning to sound condescending, as a T-Sport owner maybe you didn't view things in the same light as those who had a lower spec car. It really did make me feel alienated & as I've said, I'd been a member for well over a year when they came in so for someone who hadn't been around for as long it must have felt even worse.

If you want to find something that's T-Sport related, just do a quick search, it really can't be that difficult & this way people should feel that they're as welcome with their car as anyone else is with a higher or lower spec version.

I joined years ago under a different name when i had my 1.0 Yaris, didn't feel alienated at all!

Unless all T Sport members start their threads with 'T Sport' how are you going to search for it??

The points which have been made by Kev & Davy sum up my feelings in that the sub-forums were something I have always been against (not that I had much to do with them being removed!)

Fundamentally, the T-Sport versions of any car are the same as any lower version, perhaps with engine, brakes, suspension & a few cosmetic changes. A lot of topics based on cars are generic model-based questions and can be relevant to all versions of the car.

The last thing TOC wants to look like is a hierarchy, in that those with the expensive "Sport" models get their own "special" forums and those with base or lower spec models do not. This has always been unfair in my opinion. If you buy a Yaris, whether it's a 1.0 or a T-Sport, you're the same as everyone else who has bought a Yaris. There is no Yaris "upper class" and this is what it looked like. Swap Yaris for Corolla & Celica at your discretion.

As a previous 1.3 Yaris owner, I never felt welcome in the T-Sport section.... and I'm a moderator!

We are attempting to listen to peoples views about the way TOC is and trying to make it a friendlier place to be, where everyone can feel they can participate in discussions, no matter what they drive.

That's why there is no mention on the Toyota website of a corolla Verso its called a VERSO (MPV) that type of logic has caused the uproar we have now

You should be a member of parliament

The forums were segregated about a year and a half or so ago Gaz so when you joined with your 1.0 Yaris, it would have been the way it is now, with no T-Sport forums

If there is something that is specific to a TS, surely it will be mentioned in the post somewhere, just add sport to your search, it can't make it that much more difficult to find what you're looking for, can it?

It's changed it's name - That's all.

FYI - use a tabbed browser and click on the Verso link on the above website. In the tab of your browser you see the word CORROLAVERSO appear briefly before a redirect to the current data. It's the same car as it was, just rebranded.

The same could be said for people who drive a Yaris but feel they can't participate in the Supra section.

That arguement would lead to there being a General section and nothing else! ;)

Hardly anything to do with a T Sport is it??

I take your point that if you own a top of the range model or the intro model its a Yaris and can understand your reasoning behind that change !!! but how will it make it more friendly !!people are friendly or are not !! some of the forums you look in on them and you feel like an outsider anyway it would not matter what car you owned

Are you saying you honestly believe that the difference between a Corolla T-Sport & a Corolla that's not a T-Sport is the same as the difference between a Yaris & a Supra?

So would i have been looking for T Sport section then???

I have no idea what you're asking. If you'd have looked for a T-Sport section you wouldn't have found 1 because it didn't exist but if you were after something T-Sport related you'd have found it in the Yaris/Corolla/Celica section like you can now.

Add sport? That's like adding sport to a search on autotrader!

"just bought some sporty fluffy dice"

Hardly anything to do with a T Sport is it??

No, but now you're being pedantic. Of course there will be a few that say sport that aren't threads specifically T-Sport related to but generally speaking you'll know that from the post title so what difference does it make? If it stops people thinking they're not welcome because their car isn't good enough don't you think it's worth spending a couple of seconds longer on a search?

I take your point that if you own a top of the range model or the intro model its a Yaris and can understand your reasoning behind that change !!! but how will it make it more friendly !!people are friendly or are not !! some of the forums you look in on them and you feel like an outsider anyway it would not matter what car you owned

It wont make it any more friendly but it will stop a lot of people who don't have T-Sports thinking that because there are forums for top of the range models but not for less expensive cars with lower specifications, they're not as welcome as those who have more expensive cars

A Corolla T Sport is completely different to an E11, E10, GTI, Verso etc etc

So yes it's the same difference between a Yaris & a Supra in that they are completely different!

so really you're saying that there should be a section for each individual car and variant?

There is !

It's called the Registry.

A Yaris is not a Supra - A Corolla T-sport is a Corolla. Weak argument Gaz !

A Corolla GTI is not the same as a Corolla T Sport.

It has the same name that is it!

So why aren't you banging on for 7 Celica sections too- one for each generation. They were only connected by name/evolution.

Or are they all Celicas?

I really can't be @rsed anymore.

The site changed without proper consultation of the members without who there wouldn't be a site.

So far tonight i've clicked on a number of threads in the Corolla section which relate to Corolla's i have no knowledge of so cannot take part in the discussion.

That makes me feel alienated.

toyotaownersclub.com seems a very attractive solution to me at the minute.

It's a shame but if i want detailed technical info TOC just isn't the place to come now.

Members have been consulted Gaz... we're basing this on MEMBER feedback, including some feedback from moderators, who by the way, are members just like you and everyone else! It's not "you" and "us" - we are ALL members!

It was management who implemented these changes, not Moderators. If you wish to complain about these changes, I'm sure Les & Steve will be more than happy to chat to you about how you feel, but Management made the call, so having a go at us for explaining these changes is certainly not going to help....

If you wish to throw your dolly out the pram because your argument got blown out of the water, then thats fair enough, but if you have a genuine concern about this decision, I would suggest taking it to the people responsible rather than biting our heads off about it and threatening to move elsewhere. This is of course your choice, however if something silly as the removal of a sub-forum about your particular model of car is the cause for your moving, I'd hate to think what you'd do if Management did something more serious....

Deleting a sub-section does not create war or famine, nor does Saddam Hussein rise from the grave.... it put everything together.... it's not a crisis people! ;)

You are spot on without your comments !! I just think it smacks of arrogance to implement a change without even announcing it first on the forums concerned.

And with regards" throwing dollies out of prams" those type of comments are unnecessary and unhelpful and in fact you could say it make the forums a more unfriendly place and more surprising coming from a moderator!! something the changes were supposed to alleviate

I am personally very disappointed in the change, prior notification would have been courteous. When I joined this club I liked the way it had its sub sections which encouraged members to stay on the main Toyota Owners Club forum and not head off to specific forums e.g. TS Owners.net. With the decision that has been taken, there isn’t as much to keep some members on the main site. This could lead to the watering down of the knowledge base on the TS models.

Whilst I can see how alienation is possible, personally I wouldn’t give advice on a Corolla or any other vehicle I have no knowledge or experience of. On the flip side of this I wouldn’t wish to receive advice from someone who has no knowledge of my vehicle.

Had the Corolla and Yaris TS forums been quiet with little activity then merging them would have been totally understandable, however they were busy forums with lots of new post and topics on a daily basis.

I don’t wish to engage in an argument, I just want to pass my opinion on. :)

I'm not having a go at mods, i was trying to make a point.

What members were consulted??

If there had been a proper discussion and vote instead of just a change it would have avoided this entire thread.

The vast majority of people posting in this thread are against the change.

If one person had sent a PM to management it would not have achieved anything.

Having a thread where people can air there views together is the best option.

If it came across that i was having a go at the mods then i apologise, but it was mods replying not management.
