Avensis Noise Problem

hi lads

i have had a 2004 avensis d4d for a few months now and today noticed a strange sort of squealing \ screeching noise coming from the car while cornering . if the car is stationary and i turn steering wheel form one side to the other there is no noise . its also hard to tell if its coming from the front or back of the car. has anybody expierienced this before or can anyone throw any light on the matter. thanks in advance for any suggestions

Have you got the break Pads/Disks changed recently? If so it maybe the breaks that making that noise while settling in.

Tony - your description is quite clear to me. I had a similar problem once. It may be wheel-bearings or hub joints. I'd guess it is more likely to be at the front since the rear wheels aren't under the same pressure when cornering.

i know its not the brakes sounds like it could be a bearing as dunkleman said . have it booked in to get checked will post up results

I doubt you may have faults with CV joints as they would make more of a knocking sound when cornering. Have you checked for any loose or worn drive belts as these will sreech like a cat when vehicle on full lock & belts are under pressure. Regards Beagh.

the noise has dissappeared and no problem was found when i had it at the garage today the reckon a stone or something must have been stuck in the brakes !!! on the plus side i did have both headlight units replaced under warranty
