Mr2 Wheels

Hi all,

I recently bought my first roadster and am looking for advice on the alloys, the ones on there are original fit and are frankly bubbled and flaked beyong belief, so at £45-65 to refurb them plus the fact I'm going to need new tires soon, I'm wondering if it's worth getting an aftermarket replacement set (don't want to spend a fortune though). Would 17" fit straight on without rubbing or the need for arch modification?

Any help is massivly appreciated, also if anyone is thinking of selling theirs let me know!

P.S. have already found some great answers to a few of the issues I had with the car, I.e blocked drains and what is most likely to be a knackered O2 sensor!!

Cheers,

Nick

yea 17's should fit easily i have put a set of 18's on my 2001 mr2 spyder and the only time i get a bit of a rub is on hard lock at a fair bit of speed round corners i put a set of low profiles on and having no problems at all

Have you had any trouble with the extra hight of the wheels causing lighter steering at speed?

I've got 17's on mine and the steering always seems planted, even at speed round the twisties, only time the steering goes light is when you lift off in the corner but that would happen with any size of wheel. Hope this reassurance is all you need to go out and get a decent set of rims.

na it still handles the same if anything it seems a bit more bumpy but that was to be expected from the low profiles haha

I had issues with the front end at speed after putting 17" on... too much air getting under the car due to the slight increase of height with the bigger wheels, I solved it by putting on a set of Tien springs.
