I'm sure this question has been asked before, however, what method, if any ,do members adopt when preparing their car's headlights for the continent? As there are no obvious markings I stick black insulation tape in a random position. I also have the headlights pointing down as far as they will go. Mine is an '06 2.2 t3-s. Opinions appreciated.

I have just be away so am 'fresh to it'.

I bought the official Toyota kit which essentially gets you instructions, a sheet of black silver backed film that you cut to size and a knife to cut with. For the Avensis (mine's a 55 plate) you cut a 5.5 x5cm for each light, they are then located near the little circular ring that is on the clear light. I'll see if I can scane the data and post it here. Its overall easy to do andblack tape will do the same job once you get the location right.

Many thanks for your prompt response which is just the info. I need. On another site someone uses a 'rubber sucker' as the blanking device! This obviates any concerns about sticky tape and plastic lenses.

Sticky tape is not a bi problem is one is careful, the Toyota film is silver backed and hence stiff, easy to apply and remove.

re posting instructions how do I add an image??? no obvious way to do it..

Pjotr - can you describe where the film goes e.g. longer side of film at the top, bottom right hand corner of film at the dimple (little circular ring)? Thanks
