I'm suffering from a squeaky cluch on my '53 plate 2.0 vvti tourer - tried oiling greasing etc - to no avail.

I have read other treads on here about this issue

"There is a problem with the clutch master cylinder on Avensis manufactured before March 2005. Cars manufactured after this date have a cylinder manufactured to a higher specification, I did have the technical document somewhere but I can't find it now - anyway your dealer should be aware of it."

My local Toyota dealership are not great - so it would save alot of apain if somone could point me in the direct of the Technical Service Bulleting or other document which details this as a problem - I can then wave this at the dealership and tell them to sort it as its under extended warranty for the next 2 months

Many thanks

Tim

HI Work for a Toyota dealer in the midlands. Right the age of your car would be applicable to a problem originating from the clutch pedal master cylinder, internally they creak when depressed can be rectified by replacement of clutch master cylinder, another problem could be the clutch pivot point (the ball in the bell housing used to pivot the release fork) tends to dry up and squeak this problem requires gearbox out . it is important to differentiate between the 2 noises, the later problem can be heard more outside the vehicle from the bonnet, and the first problem heard moreso from the drivers seat when the engine off.

Hi Starensis

Thanks for your reply and help.

Can went in to have the master clutch cylinder replaced - but this has not cured the problem. Have advise the garage of your suggested prognosis and await their reply !
